Merry Christmas
Tuesday, 25 December 2007

I haven't updated too many things on this website. Although there aren't any anime or drama downloads anymore, this still gets plenty of traffic for the Stepmania song packs.

I've just added the entire Otaku's Dream collection.

Returning to Stepmania
Tuesday, 30 October 2007

This site started with only the Stepmania section, and now it'll return to being dedicated to Stepmania.

I don't have time to keep up with drama or anime updates, and they take way too much bandwidth to serve. Visit other sites like the ones on the weblink page to get your anime downloads. As for drama, learn to use IRC or stick with bittorrent.

Most productive use for free time besides sleeping
Sunday, 23 September 2007

If you have free time, and don't want to sleep, check out these puzzles:

http://train.usaco.org/usacogate

Also, if you are in high school, and have finished all the challenges in the USACO training program, you would have a pretty good shot at the top 30 universities in the US.

All updates postponed this week, so don't expect anything.

Radnorite.com server lease is over, I'm half way done loading files onto its replacement server. Also, thanks for September's donations. I'll continue to update this website as much as possible, also, Stepmania download server 1 has doubled bandwidth now, so feel free to download the big packs like UKUG and Cherry Steps. I'm also hosting Otaku's Dream Mix at http://jubo.animedreamer.org. Feel free to check his packs out too.

Common sense statistical analysis
Saturday, 11 August 2007

Here is a free lesson in common sense statistical analysis. These tables show the top five visitors within the last 48 hours by both the amount of data downloaded, and the number of http queries sent.

Table 1:

HTTP Query GB of Bandwidth Used
510 13.1
363 10.2
542 6.5
252 6.2
791 5.2

Table 2:

HTTP Query GB of Bandwidth Used
16205 0.1
5660 1.1
3990
1.9
2379
0.8
2012
1.6

So, what do you think? Who should I ban? The heavy bandwidth users or the query hitters? Well, I'll tell you who got banned - every single IP from table 2 and a couple hundred more in IP range blocks. See, I actually really do like the people from table 1, because they're using the site to the fullest and since they're downloading so much, that obviously means that I've got some addictive contents! I don't care if you download a dozen gigabytes of data in a day or even in an hour, because I've purchased enough server bandwidth for you guys.

However, let's analyse table 2. The data shows that every single one of those folks downloaded less than 2GB of data, and more importantly, they've sent over 2000 queries to the server. Queries slow down the servers, and that's why you see those errors and "try again" messages once in a while. Idiots like those guys like to set their download accelerators to 100 or more connections, and they clog the server's network connection. It's like a highway, if you want to transport a lot of stuff, you use ONE eighteen wheeled truck, not a hundred or so cheap ass mopeds. If you're using DSL, don't even bother opening more than 2 connections, because guess what, your connection is so slow, it doesn't make a difference. The same goes for people in under-developed countries in Latin America and parts of Asia, especially Malaysia and Vietnam! Your internet pipeline is small and congested, so hammering my servers exorbitantly won't make a difference. Keep doing it and I'll ban your entire country!

Lesson of the day: if you're going to download anything, be my guest, but do it intelligently and do it the right way, AKA - don't screw around.

Facebook Group
Sunday, 29 July 2007

After viewing the poll results, it seems that some people like the idea of a Facebook group.

So here it is: Anime Dreamer or, you can search for keyword "anime dreamer" on Facebook's group tool.

This can be a simple and easy way for you to refer your other non-leeching friends on Facebook to this great anime, drama, and stepmania website. It would also be a good starting point to getting your non-addicted friends addicted to anime, drama, or stepmania!

Also, I consider this a very good tactic of spreading the word about this site.

Burned out graphic card
Wednesday, 11 July 2007

I must have really really bad luck. While I was sampling the latest Jdrama today, my screen suddenly turned blank and I hear sizzling sound coming from my computer. Then I began to smell burned plastic and I immediately powered off my computer.

When I opened it up, I found out that my graphic card has burned out. The AGP bus connector is almost burned through on the edge contact. Click read more to finish the story.
